Jochem Tans
Founder/Adventure Coach
Holistic Strength Trainer
Former Corporate Attorney
For more than fifteen years, Jochem worked in various settings as a corporate attorney. His experience ranges from grinding as a Wall Street corporate finance lawyer, serving as outside counsel to various entrepreneurial teams and investors, to joining an executive management team as general counsel of a renewable energy company. He has experience with a full spectrum of the business life cycle including founding, startup financing, early growth, later stage transformation, distress/breakdown, mergers and acquisitions, and post-merger integration.
During his corporate career, training and outdoor adventure were Jochem's own lifeline of health and sanity as he struggled with focus, pressure, burnout, anxiety, and feelings of emptiness. His passions for kitesurfing, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding called him to explore oceans, mountains and deserts all over the world. Eight years of competitive 24 hour solo and duo mountain bike racing led to many of his most powerful realizations about facing ourselves and tapping into our greater human potential.
After turning forty, Jochem decided to pursue a more meaningful path in life. He left his secure career to share his healthiest and most empowering lessons from training and exploring the natural world.
Jochem earned his J.D. at Harvard Law School. Today he works as an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer helping people realize their most inspired and empowered lives. His training philosophy centers around building sustainable practices to support holistic strength and balance throughout the entire human life cycle. He is currently finishing a book about integrated mind/body/spirit training in nature. Jochem still engages in a variety of outdoor athletic pursuits, and is expanding his interests into cross country skiing, biathlon, and bowhunting.
